Hello,well-wishers!! It’s me, AFIF AL TAMIM. Today I will discuss the GSM in textile.Stay tuned.
GSM stands for grams per square meter in textile terms. It is a measure of fabric weight. It refers to the density of a fabric, which affects its thickness, durability, and warmth.
Below are the GSM ranges and what they mean in textiles:
Light-weight Fabrics: (30-150 GSM in textile)
These are light, breathable, and often used in warm weather.
Examples: T-shirts, Summer dresses, Sheer clothes, linen, etc.

Medium-weight Fabrics: (150-350 GSM)
These are relatively more durable and suitable for moderate climates.
Example: Sweatshirts, Bed sheet, shirts, etc.

Heavy-weight Fabrics: (350+ GSM)
These are much heavier and more durable than lower GSM fabrics. They are usually used for outerwear or for extra durability.
Example: Hoodies, Denim, Winter coats, etc.
Now you understand why denim jeans last a lifetime but t-shirts don’t.
